The soul of yoga



Yoga, an art which brings mind, soul, and body together. It makes our body flexible, healthy, strong and peaceful. In countries like India where people often undergo stress and depression, Yoga becomes very necessary to get rid of all mental and physical problems.

A healthy mind, as well as body, is capable of bringing anything into action. Yoga intends to bring both physical and mental health in unity with each other through a number of physical and mental exercises.

For physical health, the methods consist of different ‘asanas’ or yoga postures to edge towards a healthy body. On the other hand, the mental methods, involve meditation or ‘dhyana’ and breathing exercises or ‘pranayama’ to control the mind.

However, the ultimate of yoga is to aid the person to rise above oneself and accomplish enlightenment of both mind and body.

As scripted in Bhagavad-Gita, “A person is said to have achieved yoga, the union with the Self, when the perfectly disciplined mind gets freedom from all desires, and becomes absorbed in the Self alone.”

It is not at all a religion; in fact, a way of living which intends to bring a healthy mind and body together.
