Causes of these symptoms:
· Mental illness

· Medication side effects
Sometimes medicines taken for physical or mental conditions can also lead to hallucinations. Medications taken for depression, psychosis, Parkinson’s disease, and epilepsy may stimulate hallucination.
· Physical illness such as epilepsy or alcoholism
In some of the cases, epileptic seizures can lead you to vision bright spots or flashing shapes. A person under the influence of alcohol can also start to hallucinate.
· Lack of sleep
Not having inadequate sleep can also result in hallucinations. You might be frequent of hallucinating if you don’t sleep for several days or don’t get enough sleep over a long period of time.
Types of hallucinations
Hallucinations may vary or categorized based on its effects such as a sense of smell, hearing, taste, vision, or bodily sensations.
· Olfactory hallucinations
This type of hallucination is related to your sense of smell. You might feel that body is smell bad when you wake up in the mid of your sleep or you might smell something unpleasant odor around you when it doesn’t really exist. You can also hallucinate scents that you might find enjoyable such as the smell of flowers.
· Visual hallucinations
These hallucinations involve visioning things that aren’t present. The hallucinations may include visual patterns, objects, patterns, or lights. For example, you might see a person who is not present in the room or flashing lights that others can’t see.
· Auditory hallucinations
These are among the most common types of hallucination. In this, you may hear a person talking to you or asking you to certain things. The voice you hear might be angry, warm, or neutral.
· Gustatory hallucinations
These are similar to olfactory hallucinations, but here the difference is that they involve your sense of taste than smell. These tastes are usually very strange or unpleasant. Usually found in people with epilepsy.
· Tactile hallucinations
Tactile hallucinations are related to the feeling of touch or movement of the body such as you might feel an insect or bug crawling on your skin or your internal organs are moving around or might also feel someone’s hands on your body.
· Temporary hallucinations
As the name suggests, these are temporary hallucinations may occur if a relationship has just ended or if someone close to you has just passed away. You might either hear the person’s voice or briefly vision his/her image.
If you have experienced any of the given symptoms, the best thing you can do is to call your doctor right away.
· Your doctor might ask more about the symptoms and also perform a physical exam.
· Blood and urine tests can also be taken under record.
· May be brain scan.
Treatment & management
Once your doctor figures out the actual cause of your hallucinations, she/he might be able to recommend the best suitable treatment for you.
Medications
Hallucinations’ treatment totally depends on their underlying cause, like, if you are hallucinating because of severe alcohol withdrawal, the doctor might recommend medicines to slow down your nervous system.
Psychological counseling
This could be a part of your treatment plan. If the underlying cause of hallucination is any mental condition than a person has to undergo counseling sessions.
